At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business and Management, a position as postdoc in innovation and Development is open for appointment from 1 August 2017 or soon thereafter. The duration of the position is 30 months.
The workplace is Aalborg University at the Campus Copenhagen.
The post-doctoral fellow will be based in the Innovation & Development research cluster in the IKE Research Group at the Department of Business and Management. The IKE group was established in 1977 and conducts research within the field of innovation studies. It is actively engaged in international networks, such as GLOBELICS, DRUID and the Schumpeter Society.
The postdoc will be connected to a research project on globalisation and innovation in sustainable energy industries in China. The position will include the following assignments:
Independent post-doc research project within the theme of Globalisation and Innovation in Sustainable Energy Industries in China.
Cross-sectoral comparative work drawing on the post-doc project and existing sectoral case studies.
Organising workshops to facilitate cross-sectoral comparison.
Coordination of a collaborative publication project, a book or journal special issue, during the last phase of the employment period.
Teaching and supervision up to a maximum of 20% of the working load.
Other tasks may be included in the job description following mutual agreement.
Candidates must have academic qualifications at PhD level. In the selection of candidates, emphasis will be placed on research potential and pedagogical qualifications as well as experience with supervision and lectures.
The position will be allocated to an individual who holds a relevant PhD degree in the Social Sciences, such as Economics, Business Administration, Economic Geography, Development Studies or similar.
The following qualifications are essential:
Documented research experience in innovation studies.
Excellent quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods research skills.
Demonstrated ability to publish scientific research results in relevant journals.
The following qualifications are desirable:
Documented experience in research on sustainability.
Documented experience working on and in China.
Prior experience of participating in collaborative research projects.
As the position requires research work in China, proficiency in Chinese is an advantage. The position will involve research activities in an independent postdoc project devised for an in-depth case study of innovation and internationalisation of firms in the hydropower, geothermal, bioenergy or similar renewable energy sector in China. Prior experience in this research area is an advantage. Teaching is expected to be limited. However, experience in teaching and supervision is also an advantage.
The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Applicants are expected to demonstrate their academics skills. These include formulating good and relevant research questions, warranting these in the extant theoretical literature and provide initial ideas for a research design. Applicants are expected to have strong analytical capabilities and exhibit a high degree of independence and maturity in their research and research coordination work. The position will be awarded to an individual with a strong track record (e.g. PhD) in an area closely related to the advertised position.
