About this opportunity
The British Council and FAPESP sponsors a workshop on science, technology and innovation systems and policy.

The workshop is being coordinated by Prof. Sergio Salles-Filho from the Department of Science and Technology Policy, Institute of Geosciences, UNICAMP, and Prof. Jakob Edler from the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR), Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. It will have contributions from Prof. Maria Nedeva, Prof. Philip Shapira, Dr. Sergio Queiroz, and two faculties from the School of Applied Sciences: Dr. Peter Schulz and Dr. Adriana Bin.

The workshop aims at exchanging about on-going research and developing new research ideas for future collaboration between researchers from UK and the State of Sao Paulo.

The main premises of the workshop are that science, technology and innovation are key for economic and social development, that the dynamics of producing technology and innovations are changing and that we have to re-think the role and importance of policy and interplay of policies and instruments at regional, national and international level as well as the innovation management practices of firms.
Thus, the workshop seeks to explore new research ideas in order to understand the dynamics and governance of science, technology and innovation systems, the (changing) role of innovation management, STI governance and policy, policy mixes and key organisations in the system and various approaches to map and understand technological dynamics and measure the impact of policies.
The workshop will provide a unique opportunity for sharing research expertise and networking. During the workshop early career researchers (see below) will have the opportunity to present their research in the form of a poster presentation and discuss this with established researchers from the UK and partner countries. There will be a focus on building up links for future collaborations and participants selected on the basis of their research potential and ability to build longer term links.

Participants must be early career researchers: early career researchers are defined as holding a PhD (or having equivalent research experience) and having up to 10 years post-PhD research experience. Consideration will be given to researchers with more than 10 years experience that have taken extended career breaks.

Participants must have a research or academic position (a permanent post, research contract, or fellowship etc) at a recognised research institution either in the UK or in the State of Sao Paulo.
